”Low Carbon” architectural competition

Abstract

A laboratory of ideas shedding light on innovative projects and architectural quality paired with various ways to save energy – this is what the “Low Carbon Competition” actually is about. Originally called “Architecture with less carbon dioxide”, this competition was initiated in France in 2007 by the EDF Foundation (national electricity supply from France).

Nowadays, energy is no longer regarded as a mere element meant to provide comfort and functionality to a building, but it became a major item under consideration in urban planning, architectural projects and rehabilitation, capitalizing mainly on the territory resources.

The juried competition at regional and national level is divided into two distinct general sections: new construction and rehabilitation of the existing structures.
