Abstract
In the context of Bucharest city, an organism in a continuous development, it is permanently subject to change, to an evolution in which gathering and public manifestation places are searched and accepted with enthusiasm.
Urban foyer is particularly the design which responds to the need of an urban space, a place to enter into society. Located in the continuity of the cultural space adjacent to Arthur Verona Street intersection with Jean Louis Calderon, the public space proposed is easily accessible and in the same time in safety from car traffic. The volumes proposed offer functions that make available to the user the possibility of following a path that invites and captivates all age categories to recreation, communication and information.
The architectural object is part of the public path and can act as such in different circumstances involving the user. The passersby can observe, from different perspectives, the scene, can access the circulated terrace or can participate to the events taking place in the urban square, in front of the scene. The interior invites to activities like displays, openings and workshops, interacting with the surroundings through glass cassettes that look like a scene/create the image of a scene and offer an attractive image in the night, when they are illuminated.
Urban foyer is the place of entrance into society, launch pad for persons having exceptional abilities. It is the place for future cultural activities that invite newcomers as well as „veterans” – committed participants at the urban life. The proposal thus allows us to be our own producers and actors in a scene at a greater scale, at the level of the city.
