Evaluating psychological effects of contemporary cities facades to children

Abstract

City facade is combination of different elements which was shaped on the streets and ways depend on the cities happenings and their situations. Nowadays, cities facades become important due to public spaces rules in urbanism. It is enough to go to streets to face with bunches of colours, stones, bricks and concretes as buildings.

Mismatching between size and height of buildings, using different and opposite design pattern, materials and colours for buildings, ugly windows, various entrances and confusing and inconsistent facades are the most common facades problems of contemporary cities. Sense of fixation and sense of citizenship were the concepts of previous cities, meanwhile city is combination of tall buildings, streets, offices and parks today. Nowadays, buildings continuity with ground and sky were interrupted and spaces were raised among them. Cities textures include sparse masses which are without cultural, social and economical values because the buildings were built first and which are remained are urban space.

Children should live and grow in these kind of cities, should communicate in these unpleasant environments and should be safe and calm among of these visual disturbances. Hyper child, child depression, wild child, passive contemporary child and etc...are the negative points of cities turmoil. The urbanism of city can guaranty mental health of children and all group of citizen.

In this article, I want to extract strategies to manage contemporary cities facades via considering special child needs in order to successful participation in local and metropolitan areas.
