The Carpet (Workshop Workshop “Places beyond the threshold”, Team 1)

Abstract

“Like a breath” – that’s what Horia Bernea wanted the Romanian Peasant Museum to be when he conceived it. “A breath of fresh air” meant to bring back the normal, the natural, in a world that seemed to have lost it. Society has undergone a great deal of changes from the moment in which Bernea stated these ideas, but nevertheless, the Romanian Peasant Museum has remained impregnated by this function of a museum as a healing gesture. Keeping in line with his speech, we tried to follow the same concept in the project we proposed for the “Places beyond limits” workshop. Our team focused on respecting and holding on to these values by making a physical intervention outside the limits of the actual museum.
