ArgumentNo. 3/2011

Architecture of emergency situations

Abstract

In the contemporary natural disasters (earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes, fires or floods), as were those particularly violent in recent years throughout the world, regional and ethnic conflicts, migration and poverty, extreme and rapid climate change put us in the face of situations that seemed unthinkable in the early 90s.

Today, real social activism problem in developed Western countries is a response for the ,until recently, marginal aspects of the problem: housing - temporary or not - for the homeless, refugees or immigrants, but there is an area that unites the entire community worldwide international: emergency housing, which became necessary immediately and in large quantities as a result of a natural disaster or war. It is necessary to have a preventive thinking, well supported theoretically and practically, by which to base research directions and to find effective solutions and quick crisis management.
